Treatment: Comprehensive Behavioral Model (ComB Model):

BFRBs are self-soothing actions, and the reasons behind picking and pulling are unique to each person. Therapy may involve:

  • Learning to identify the specific situations, feelings, or thoughts that lead to your picking or pulling.

  • Developing strategies to interrupt these behaviors when you feel the urge.

  • Finding more helpful ways to soothe yourself or deal with emotional discomfort.

  • Building self-awareness through mindfulness or relaxation techniques to manage stress.

  • Gradually reducing or eliminating the unwanted behaviors over time.

The goal is to help you gain more control over these behaviors and reduce the physical and emotional impact they may be having on your life.
